3 Act Math Strategy
Friday November 1, 2024 9:45am - 10:40am PDT
3 Act Math Tasks are an element of Mid School Math and an amazing addition to iReady classrooms as well.  They are a problem solving approach to math education where a scenario is presented to students in three parts.  Act one is an engaging, open ended situation to spark curiosity and generate questions.  Act two provides additional information to help students develop a solution strategy.  Act three reveals the answer and allows students to reflect on their reasoning and compare solutions with the actual outcome.  These math problems mimic  the structure of a story with a beginning, middle, and end, encouraging critical thinking and active engagement with the math concept involved.
